– Seigneur, répondit la terre, et où trouverai-je les forces pour nourrir tout ce que vous avez créé en ces six jours ? Comment ferai-je pour garder et renouveler la vie de tant de créatures et tant de plantes ?
– Comment ? dit le Seigneur. En dévorant tout.
Et dès lors, la terre se mit à dévorer toutes les vies pour produire et alimenter des vies nouvelles.
